Dr. Castillo earned his Ph.D. in Instructional Design and Technology in 2016 from Keiser University. Before that, he completed his BSN from West Visayas State University in 1994 and his MS in Nurse Anesthesia from Wolford College in 2007. Currently, Dr. Castillo works as an independent Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist practitioner in Florida and has been a full-time Nurse Anesthesia Faculty for more than 16 years, with an appointment this 2023 as a tenured Associate Professor at Texas Wesleyan University. Having been Past President of the Florida Association of Nurse Anesthesiology, current Chair of the FL Board of Nursing, and Area III Board of Director with the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, he is an active advocate for the nursing profession through the local, state, national, and international professional involvements, wherein a distinction of the 2021 AANA Ira P. Gunn Outstanding Professional Advocacy award was bestowed. On a national scale, Dr. Castillo enjoys presenting scholarly topics of interest to the CRNA and the nursing profession. Blessed with two vibrant children, Mia and Beau, Dr. Castillo enjoys spending time with his family during his days off.
